Stopped in here a few weeks ago with Sherry J due to the Starboard line being way out of control. This place was taking in some of the overflow. I prefer to not have to wait an hour or use a port o potty to use the restroom. Our intention was 1 drink and then hit the beach to watch the running of the bull. We never made it out. 6 Dewey Devils later we staggered on out! They are huge and only 7.00 and made with 151! I revisited North Beach after hearing of 1.00 Dewey Devils on Tuesday. This was not hearsay! All day and all night! I could have sat here all day but due to being on a bike we had one each, hit another location and stopped for one on the ride back to Rehoboth. I now am counting the days until I can get there on another Tuesday! The Bf also ordered the piggly wiggly which was a pulled pork cheese steak with jalapenos and onions and green peppers. All sounds fine and dandy but when you see the spinning roasted pig on the way in the appetite for pork changes. Then when you see a sign that says "Pig on the spit today was John.....RIP", things really change. But once it came out we blocked out poor John. It was good but not great. Bread got soggy fast and it was NC style which I like but the BF wasn't a big fan.

They advertise they roast a pig every day so we went for pulled pork sandwich. It was good, tender, fresh with tomato-based BBQ sauce. Not a fancy meal - chips, pickle, bricohe roll- but tasty. The waitstaff was attentive. The iced tea not so great. Note to self: inquire as to whether iced-tea is brewed before ordering. We stayed and listened to a singer until 9, no cover. Weekends may be a different story but during the week it's a pleasant place to eat with reasonable food.

Ended up here just before sunset (thought it was cool that they had the sunset time posted out by the water, where the view is spectacular), and liked it better than any of the other DB watering holes I've been to. Slower paced, no soused college kids frantically grinding on each other, good DJ, great view. Not much of a beer selection, though.

Northbeach is my favorite bar by far in Dewey Beach. It is a great time, especially during the day. The bouncers and bartenders aren't jerks like the guys that work at the Lighthouse and Rudder. Northbeach has been famous for years for its $1 beers and Dewey Devils on Tuesday nights. The best night of the week in Dewey IHMO. Food is decent, drinks are amazing. Especially the Dewey Devil. Will definitely come back every summer; nothing like watching the sun set at Northbeach.

Huge place. Wasn't too crowded. Good for big groups! Nice big dance floor. Top 40. On the beach.

I'm a huge fan of Northbeach, especially on Sunday afternoons. You can order great seafood and sit outside on the bay, take your shoes off and put your feet in the sand. It's very relaxing and laid back. There is live music or a DJ and the beers aren't too expensive.

Like a frat house in the sand. I was a fan. I can't rate the food because like any frat house, I don't trust it. The drinks were strong and we were there on a deal night (maybe tuesday?) They had a really great live band and just a chill atmosphere where people new each other and made you feel welcomed and drunk. We walked everywhere in Dewey and walking to this place made me feel like I was walking down rape alley (it was dark and a little creepy)... however, the bass could be felt in my heart and the music and booze welcomed me.

The food here isn't spectacular. But what do you expect at a beach? I would recommend the calamari. It was my favorite thing of all the things I ordered. My crab cake sandwich was mediocre. The crab cake was crunchy but somewhat tasteless. I sprinkled a bunch of Old Bay and cocktail sauce on it. The fish was decent. Not saluted or spiced up or anything so you may wanna ask for a bunch of sauces. But the size is large! The best thing to get here would be Grapefruit Crushes. The service is really slow and there weren't many people seated for food. Most people were there for drinks at the bar. But you are seated on a bed of sand so it was like eating on the beach on the water. The place is usually filled with drunk people so I wouldn't go here for a nice quiet meal.

Best day drinking beach bar in dewey!! Had the best time here this weekend. They're known for their frozen dewey devil drinks. They also shadily have pretty good food, ordered a crab cake and it did not dissapoint.

The bouncer punch the drunk guy in the face who was coming toward north beach. That was completely unnecessary. It seems they do that a lot and they get away from it. Another time carting a guy with his neck and the guy was not resisting at all but they were using full force. I guess they know a drunk person does not going to remember that.

Dollar Dewey Devils on Tuesdays!!! Whatwhat!! Another great day drinking place. Take your flip flops off, grab a dewey devil and get some sun. This place is also good for beer pong and live bands.

Good place to have some drinks and listen to a cover band, but the food was very meh. I had a crab cake sandwich and it was very fishy tasting. I also think they can do better then throwing some old bay in some mayo and calling it a sauce. It's fun to sit on the sand, and the dancing was pretty good besides some people who had no concept of personal space. Drinks were okay.

The location and bay vista are fantastic ... that alone is worth one star. Northbeach is a place we have always made a stop at. Yeah, given my age I realize I'm not the demographic they're interested in, but in the past the food was always okay and the beverages were good - cold beer that wasn't too expensive and mixed drinks that were enjoyable, if mostly ice. I guess that era is over. The view is still nice, but management seems to have decided to go for the younger demographic. In this case that seems to equate to warm beer, crappy mixed drinks (amazingly the cocktails at Grotto's Pizza were better), bland and forgettable food, a bathroom that looked like a street gang had rampaged through it (seriously, how about cleaning it up and repairing all the damage), and lots of space devoted to what I'm guessing is nightly djs and/or live music (bet the neighbors are thrilled by that). So was there anything enjoyable here ? Beautiful sunset; nice enough waitress (though she didn't have a clue about drink choices), and getting to listen to some of the other guests. I particularly enjoyed the slacker guy telling his sunburned girlfriend about the dangers of drinking soda. He never let such poison cross his lips. Ironically he had a pack of cigarettes and a couple of shots on the table next to him. One star for the sunset; one star for the nice waitress. And in the interests of fairness, if I were still 20, or if I was looking for a place to spend the day drinking at the beach and then an evening enjoying dance music ... this is probably a pretty good place to go.

Came for late lunch on a Tuesday, prime spot near the bay- only 2 other tables occupied. It happened to be $1 bud lights and some limarita frozen drink so we opted for those. The nachos with chicken were great and huge. I got the grilled chicken sandwich and it was perfect- I've never had such juicy grilled chicken! I haven't been at night but the day crowd was relaxed and the breeze was delightful. Our server was MIA but we helped ourselves since we were right near the bar ;)

This is a great restaurant...it's on the bay, lots of sand, laid back atmosphere, beachy. The drinks are tasty. Check out the 'crush' bar or try a Dewey Devil frozen drink (rule of thumb is no more than 2!) There is generally live music or at least a DJ. On Sunday's they have a live band from 1 - 4:30pm and then a fun acoustic duo from 5 - 9pm. I enjoy sitting at a table on the sand with my friends here and enjoy the atmosphere and music. I'll also mention it is nice to go here for the sunset. My only complaint is that the drink prices are outrageous! Some examples: 1 bottle of Corona $6.50, 1 can of Red bull (no alcohol) $7.50, Red bull and vodka $10, Grey goose and soda $9.50. Good for groups. Kids can play in the sand. No wi fi. There is a big private lot to park in...which is like gold in Dewey!

Place is gross.. nice location, but the smell of the bay is disgusting.. smells like a bag of chum.. when the bartenders have fly swatters, probably a sign..

Fun band tonight (tricky dick). That restroom situation was not ideal, a patron yelled, "hurry up a boys it's a race". We did get to meet the Dewey Devil. A very nice gentleman devil! He got down on the stage with the band! Drank the Dewey Devil! Delicious !

Came here on a Friday night and danced all night! FUN, fun, fun! There was no charge to get in. You walk in and it feels very tropical since there is sand at the bar. Wear flip-flops or sandals. There are plenty of places to sit, take in the scene to the right or left of the main dance area. The bars are outdoors with tiki-tops or like a tent or something. They are situated next to the bay so you can see the view of the water which is awesome. So you can either dance on crowded dance floor, or sit and chill by the side by the bay. There was a live cover band from Boston and they were great, awesome energy. All my friends were dancing. The place looks small on the outside, but its really big. Make sure you have an area to meet your friends, otherwise it can become tough to find one another. If you've ever been to Seacrets at OC, it has that same feel, but way smaller and less overwhelming. Can't wait to go back!!

Really fun bar-right on the water. Great chill vibe in the day and party central at night. Great live music. Great drinks, especially, the Crush Bar! Would recommend to anyone visiting Dewey Beach.

Love this place. Great drinks (Dewey Devil = YES), great food, great vibe, great music. I always have a blast! It's on the water and is covered in sand, so you can grab a drink and sit on the water and enjoy the sands! It might be the best place for a Sunday Funday too.

  • Morgan G.

I don't know why people don't like this place. It's big and fun. They get awesome cover bands. Under a canopy and outside. Same idea as Seacrets but not as big or nice. Whatever, Dewey is small. The drinks are expensive but they make them strong and last time I went, the bartender gave us a few shots on him. I had a blast and will be back.

The plan was to spend the day on the beach. We made it as far as the corner table in the sand in front of the stage...and never left. The Dewey Devils were refreshing and delicious with bacardi 151 and an extra shot on top, plus whipped cream! Whats not to love! We also ordered crab dip which we should have skipped only because we were sitting in the sun, and we should have ordered something cold. We met lots of great people, chatted with the band, and never made it to the beach that day!

My new favorite bar!! We watched the World Cup final here, with our toes in the sand and a freshly-squeezed (and strong!) Orange Crush in our hand. A cover band was playing throughout the game, they were pretty good. I have heard the Dewey Devils (frozen red drink) are good and strong as well! This is right on the water (bay side) so it's gorgeous and offers free parking to it's customers (can be hard to find in Dewey Beach). There's beer pong in the main area by the tvs and 3 different bar areas. Really fun place to come with friends for a good time at the beach!

Came here with a Bach party of 15 girls on a Saturday night with high hopes - bar only, no dinner. While the location is awesome, one of the bartenders narrowly missed ruining the entire evening by really slapping one of the girls' hand after she waited for a drink for 20 minutes and watched him serve guys all around her with free shots. She calmly confronted him about it and not only did he refuse to apologize, he went so far as to say he didn't need our business and mocked us. A few of us tried to ask for a manager and were told we would just have to call the next day to make a complaint. I understand that in a town like Dewey there is a revolving door of visitors and tourists to deal with (including us) but I'm sure there are plenty of folks who would gladly take the jobs of the ponytailed asshat and other bored/unhelpful staff that we had the unfortunate pleasure of meeting. Go to Bottle & Cork instead for (much better) live music and a really fun authentic Dewey crowd.

I would give a three star review, but the great location kicks it up a four. Third time visit Party size: 4 Meals: Crab cake sandwiches, pulled pork sandwiches, crab artichoke dip PROS 1. Toes in sand 2. Great view of water 3. Fun atmosphere 4. Live music 5. Drink specials CONS 1. Confusion awaits when trying to get a table 2. Bring back the original crab dip recipe!! (says three other friends as well) 3. Live entertainment, but the singer was sub par...a little distracting

Gordon Ramsay would have had a heart attack. This place has gone down hill big time. We did a big family dinner two years ago, and everything was great. We stopped in last year, and it was still above average. On this visit over this past weekend....we've entered the "Never Again" category. Beer: It was warm. Food: They took off the tuna sandwiches, which used to be decent. So, we ordered crab cake sandwiches, onion rings, french fries, and one of our little guests had chicken tenders. The crab cakes were AWFUL. I did in fact see crab in them, but they were small and mostly filler - and filler that taste like they dragged it across the sand before bringing it to us. The french fries looked like they went to the grocery store, cooked frozen fries in the oven a week ago, stuck them in the fridge, and then just warmed them in the microwave. The $9 onion rings were a greasy mess. And, the chicken tenders would have been fine if they listed them on the menu as "Chicken Jerky." Toes in the Sand: Me thinks not. The sand was full of broken beer bottles, and the fence had rusty metal straps hanging off of them. The Liberty Mutual guy would also have had a heart attack. Servers: One of the servers looked like the G.M. of the place knew they were going to be short handed, and just grabbed someone from the gym to come wait tables for the evening. The sneakers I get, but Nike gym shorts and an old t-shirt, really? He was a sloppy mess. Our server wasn't as bad, but I did ask him if he actually worked there when he came to the table. And finally, when I informed the server of all of the above, in a very diplomatic manner, he said sorry and handed me the bill. Lucky for him 15% tip is my floor for even crap.

  • Colleen C.

One of the bartenders refuses to serve my friend because he didn't tip enough. When he offered to tip a huge tip on the next drink she still refused. Rudest bartender I have ever spoken to. Tried to make conversation and wouldn't even meet my eyes. Didn't care about customer satisfaction whatsoever. they just lost four customers. I wish I could give it a zero but I just love Dewey devils too much.

Any day or evening here and your bound to have a good time, Sunday Fundays are probably the best time to come. There is usually live music playing and everyone is there to have a good time. you can kick back and wiggle your toes in the sand while looking out over the bay or you can sit inside to beat the heat on those warm days. The food here is good I haven't had a bad meal yet. If your here to drink Try the Dewey Devil with a 151 floater you won't be disappointed until maybe the next day if you don't know how to hand your booze. The bartenders and staff are always helpful.

What a cool spot! Made me feel like I was on the West Coast. There aren't a ton of beach bars around here where you can leisurely drink with your feet in the sand. Good music and a good crowd. Great for socializing, inside or out.

This is a large place that gets pretty crazy during the weekends. It's not really my kind of joint, but I can appreciate why some people like it. There are a bunch of different sections. We chilled mostly in the outside bar. When the weather is good, it's a nice spot to have a drink and act stupid in. The floor is all sand, which is pretty cool. However, one girl in our crew regretted wearing high heels because she kept sinking. The drink selection is weak and overpriced. 5 dollar Coronas and the like make me unhappy. Oh well... One inside area has a dance floor and also a "crush" mixed drink bar. They have some fruit concoctions (mango, peach, creamsicle, etc) which are decent, but nothing special. They weren't super sweet, which I like, but didn't have much flavor overall. We also hung out in the lounge area for a bit. It's loud and gets silly, but there are some posh couches as well. This place is pretty packed on the weekends. You will often get bumped into hard by obnoxious drunk people and sweaty bouncers. Bartenders sucked when I was there. They are overworked, but also incompetent. Some are more interested in talking to their friends who show up for free drinks while the others will not pay attention to you no matter how long you've been standing there waving money around. Most of the crowd is twenty-somethings, but weird and slightly creepy 50 year olds also hang out. (Let me be clear that all 50 year olds who frequent bars are not weird and creepy, but the ones at Northbeach seem to be.) Parking is great here. There's a huge lot and you will find a spot if you look hard enough. Park here (for free) instead of scrounging around Dewey for a spot on the street. This makes Northbeach a good spot to start and/or end your night.

We had a girls weekend and our main reason for coming was to see our favorite band Mr. Greengenes. We usually see them at the a local spot in Arlington, VA so we were all hoping this place would not be a total let down compared to what we are used to. Northbeach did not disappoint. The bartenders were awesome and super attentive for a PACKED house. Drinks were not only mixed well but they also had a crush bar that my bestie loved. I was very put off at first because it was so crowded but atmosphere was very chill and we got to be super close to our favorite band. Overall it was a fantastic experience and we will for sure be back.

Food mediocre, service BLAH, atmosphere horrible, horrible language from staff, bartenders sitting on bar, sand in multiple drinks, under 21 year old staff drinking at the bar (age confirmed by staff who asked his age and said be careful and laughed), and no napkins... Over priced drinks and food for the quality! U should rather go to subway! Wish I could get a refund. The only pleasant thing about this place was out red haired male server.

My friends and I went to Northbeach for a girls night out and to see Mr. Greengenes (our most favoritest band of all time). This place was SUPER packed and you're literally on top of each other, but everyone was really friendly, so it didn't really matter. The drinks here aren't outrageously expensive, so I was really happy about that. They have a separate crush bar which my friend loved because she literally fell in love with the grapefruit crush during our time in Rehoboth and Dewey. There was only a short line for the woman's bathroom even though the place was packed, so they clearly attained the perfect stall to woman ratio. I really enjoyed the setup of this place also because they have an outdoor bar in the front, a few indoor bar areas and then two outdoor bar areas out the back which is right on the bay. Plenty of bar space available, even on this super crowded night. Will definitely be back next year.

Be careful of dishonest bartenders, if you use your card, keep a mental note and look at your bank statement. Mine is wrong. Multiple transactions are wrong. And its not just my experience, its happened at ivy as well to a friend. Greedy scumbags

Went here with my daughter and her husband on 6/17/10, poor beer selection, only brands from NKS Distributors, beer was not cold, started off with a order of nachos???? Stale chips, with what looked like shredded steak sandwiches and smothered in liquid velveta cheese, it looked awful!!!!!! Was cold!!!!! Tasted awful!!!!!!! Sent it back and about 5 min. later a new one arrived the same way...........Ugh!!! The chef came out and apologized and bought us 2 beers. We ordered some wings(how can they screw that up) WORST WINGS I HAVE EVER HAD!!! Son in law had a burger and said it was ok. The staff was very friendly and polite. Went home and had some cheese puffs and a good beer..............Sorry North Beach but you guys gotta try harder.

I've been coming to Dewey Beach for years, and never knew this place existed. I went with a large group over the 4th of July weekend and was so happy one of our friend's found Northbeach. SO much fun! Big indoor/outdoor bar. I think you can eat there during the day, but I only went at night. It's a mix of people that go but everyone was having a good time. The dewey devil drink was yuuuummmy and the bartenders were nice and attentive. My friends went during the day and said there was a really nice view. Check it out here when the other bars are too packed!

I'm a huge fan of Northbeach, especially on Sunday afternoons. You can order great seafood and sit outside on the bay, take your shoes off and put your feet in the sand. It's very relaxing and laid back. There is live music or a DJ and the beers aren't too expensive.

Went here with my husband a few weeks ago. We have been many many times for drinks, but this was our first time eating here after many years. We got the crab dip (very good), I got a salad, which was huge and very tasty, and he got a tuna sandwich. Would definitely be back for food again.

Sunday afternoons are the best time to go, but DOLLAR nights on Tuesdays are the best. The beers and crowds aren't too bad on regular nights if you want somewhere else to go besides the Rudder.
